The heaths on Cannock Chase lie between the high altitude moorlands of the north and lowland heaths in the south of the country. As a result, they represent a unique range of UK heaths with an unusual mix of species, including the rare hybrid bilberry or "Cannock Chase berry". The size of the Chase's heathland, along with its associated woodland, grassland and wetland habitats, makes it important for otherwise rare and restricted wildlife.
