Collaborative art installation goes on display
“What does a ‘wild and beautiful, distinctive, thriving, resilient and welcoming National Landscape’ look like to you?”
These paper trees were created by local artist Jennifer Collier, for Cannock Chase National Landscape. They are made from site specific papers, such as out of date leaflets and end of life maps, archive images and most importantly the collated responses from delegates at the Cannock Chase National Landscape Annual Conference in June 2025 to the question “What does a ‘wild and beautiful, distinctive, thriving, resilient and welcoming National Landscape’ look like to you?”
The quotations were provided by the delegates on postcards in a creative consultation activity at the conference. Most of the images are photos, magazine cuttings and collages brought along by the delegates that represent their vision of Cannock Chase.
Quotations were typed-up, printed onto vellum, and matched with the images that related to the text. These were then stitched together by Jennifer to form the larger three trees. The five small trees are collaged panels also created by delegates during the conference, which have been stitched together to create these mini trees – trees being the perfect symbol of a thriving and welcoming National Landscape.
The trees will be on display from 17th July 2025 to 13th August at Cannock Chase Visitor Centre, Marquis Drive
Cannock Library for display from 14th August to 1st October
