The People Perspective: Andrew Robson

Over 2.5 million visitors are attracted to Cannock Chase each year to enjoy its natural beauty, and opportunities for outdoor exercise and exploration. The majority live locally (within 6 kms) and are day visitors. Silvertrees Camping and Caravanning Site lies in a beautiful woodland setting in the heart of the Chase, and is one of a range of accommodation that is available locally for those who want to stay longer, take their time, and explore the area.

How would you describe your business, and what is the story of your relationship with Cannock Chase?

Our campsite here is one of our smallest and opened in 1982. We’re on the edge of the Chase but are a popular place for holidays, with cycling and walks direct from site. We have 50 pitches and welcome all types of camper.

The Chase is a stunning spot for lots of reasons and we can do what we do best here – give our campers the chance to get away from it all and connect with nature. There are great cycle routes starting a short walk away in the Cannock Chase Forest.

How would you say your business benefits from its location and relationship with Cannock Chase?

We’re a well-established membership organisation and we have campers returning year after year – the Chase must be a special place to keep bringing them back. As a Club we’re keen to promote the importance of nature and wildlife conservation and this is clearly of key importance on the Chase, where an untold number of woodland and heathland species call the area their home.

How would you describe Cannock Chase to someone who has never visited?

Cannock Chase is ideally located in the middle of the country while also being a dog lover’s paradise and very picturesque. Camping puts you on the doorstep of the great outdoors and Cannock Chase is an ideal place to pitch up and take in the scenery.
