About the Project
The National Landscape Partnership has set a challenging target of protecting and managing for nature 35% of the National Landscape by 2030 – exceeding the Government’s 30by30 commitment.
The National Landscape is rich in nature – 31% of the area is protected for biodiversity (SAC, SSSI, LNRs, and Local Wildlife Sites).
The National Landscape itself doesn’t own land. Fortunately, 88.7% of the land that is protected for biodiversity is owned by our public and charitable body partners.
The National Landscape Team will be working with these key partners to ensure that these areas are:
- Protected from damaging activities
- Managed to make sure they are kept in good condition for wildlife
- Connected to other good quality habitats.
We are also looking beyond protected sites by supporting nature friendly farming throughout the rest of the National Landscape.
Funding
Funding is available for activities which will enable more areas of land within Cannock Chase National Landscape to count towards the Government’s commitment for 30% of land in England to be protected for nature by 2030 (30by30).
