Cannock Chase SAC

What is a SAC?

The heathland and ancient woodland core of the National Landscape is also designated a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).

SACs are protected sites designated to conserve habitats and species under the European Habitats Directive.

The SAC Partnership of local authorities in the area works together to mitigate the effects of visitor pressure on the site through education, community initiatives and practical measures to visitor infrastructure.
