People and Access

About the project

The National Landscape Team is working with its partners to make the National Landscape more inclusive and welcoming, improve access and exploration of the natural world, and encourage positive behaviours.

This might be by:

  • Working in partnership with other organisations to secure more investment in visitor infrastructure and facilities, such as road gateway signage, waymarking and car parks.
  • Improvements to paths to make them more suitable for those with mobility requirements.
  • Directing footfall away from the most ecologically sensitive parts of the Chase.
  • Providing equipment to guided walk leaders so they are more confident in welcoming a range of people on their walks – for example, those with visual and hearing impairments.
  • Improving information and awareness about the National Landscape.
  • Using the National Landscape branding to provide consistent messaging and creating a sense of pride in Cannock Chase
  • Helping visitors better plan their visits through our Access Guide, videos and a booklet of our trails

In 2026 we aim to publish a Recreation Management Strategy to co-ordinate recreation delivery by partners across the Chase.
