This started the discussion and debate around Nature Recovery, which was the theme of this year’s conference.
The Annual Cannock Chase National Landscape Conference is fast approaching – this year it takes place in person on Thursday 25th April 2024 from 09:45 to 16:00 at Aquarius Ballroom Hednesford.
The theme for this year’s Conference is: Nature Recovery.
The Conference is an opportunity for you to hear about the Partnership’s latest activities, news and plans, share your thoughts and observations, ask questions, and a chance to catch up with old and new friends and colleagues. We are looking forward to seeing you all again.
Who should attend? All who are interested in the work of Cannock Chase National Landscape and nature recovery.
The theme for this year’s conference is nature recovery. Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent councils are working on the preparation of a Local Nature Recovery Strategy and we are beginning the process of reviewing the AONB Management Plan. Nature recovery will be central to our vision for the Chase for the next 5 years. The conference will allow us to reflect on the state of nature in the National Landscape; what we mean by nature recovery; and how we can work in partnership to deliver a better future for nature.
Policymakers, experts and practitioners will share their knowledge and experience across a range of projects. We also want to hear from you about the priorities and opportunities for nature that should inform and shape our next Management Plan.
We will be running a small exhibition of organisations involved in nature recovery alongside the conference for you to find out more about all the great work happening in the National Landscape.

Your answers are anonymous and will help us to map actions for nature in the forthcoming review of our National Landscape Management Plan.

Cannock Chase has been shaped through the interactions between people and landscape over millennia, and its historic environment and culture is fundamental to its natural beauty, unique character and sense of place. The Chase Through Time project (2016-18) aimed to shine a light on 2,000 years of human activity on Cannock Chase and how our ancestors managed and worked their environment. The conference will look back at this project and its legacy and share thoughts for the future conservation and enhancement of the historic environment on Cannock Chase.
